In late 2009 I received a cd from a friend in the UK. It was a copy of an old 78 that was part of a collection of 78s he had picked up in a car boot sale. These records were ancient home recordings - circa 1930's. The rest of the records were a bizarre collection of experimental/just plain weird sounds. A couple of them were very disturbing and basically consisted of a woman's moaning, sobbing, and laboured breathing.

The one I was sent though was of a man - who I can only assume is the person responsible for the other records - singing the American trad tune, "Deep Blue Sea". My friend sent me the cd because the man singing sounded uncannily like me. This set my imagination running, caused a number of very unpleasant dreams, and eventually produced a collection of songs that followed a broad sea faring and watery theme. Monsters, Whores and More is that collection of songs.
