“The years fly by but the days really drag” is a collection of six pieces recorded in November 2020. It’s kind of a mini album or semi-album. The style is country infused folk with a few atmospheric doodlings in a steam punk, second rate Brian Eno kind of style. The collection also features my first ever Christmas song. These are all sad songs, there’s no denying it, but that’s country music for you. I expect some would call it alt-country but I’ve come to loathe that term. In the end, everything is country.

As usual I play and sing everything. There are a few sound effects and samples that I’ve used from a stash of stuff I’ve downloaded over time. I would acknowledge the creators of these but I can’t recall where each of them came from. I should however credit the wonderful Bill Mead - Drummer, Percussionist, Craftsman, Music Educator and son of a drummer’s son. Most of the drum samples and a couple of loops I use on these songs are from Bill’s website www.organicdrumloops.com . He records loops and samples of his array of calf skin fitted vintage drums and then makes these available for free (although he accepts donations). He seems to do this partly for the pure geeky artistic joy of it and partly as a way of supporting the creativity and art of others. The world needs more people like Bill.
